Chairperson: Dr. Patricia Ryan Recupero, JD, MD
Dr. Recupero holds doctoral degrees in medicine and law. She is the former President/CEO of Butler Hospital in Providence; the Executive Vice President of Behavioral Health at Care New England; and Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Brown University Medical School. Now retired, she is Care New England’s senior Vice-President for Education and Training. She has served on our school board since 2012.
Mrs. Patricia Baumgartel
Mrs. Baumgartel has worked in Catholic education for many years. She was a teacher at Bishop McVinney School, Providence; a teacher/administrator at the Community Prep School, Providence; and the Principal at St. Mary School, Pawtucket. She served for two years on the original school board and then as the first Director of Guidance at St. Patrick Academy, 2011-2013, where she continues to serve as a volunteer. Now retired, Mrs. Baumgartel was named the New England Region’s “Principal of the Year” for 2006 by the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA).
Mrs. Joanie Bennet
Mrs. Bennet is a retired nurse, having earned her degree from the Univeristy of Rhode Island's School of Nursing in 1978. She has worked in this field at Roger Williams Hospital, Coastal Medical, and Providence College as well as in New Hampshire at Keen Clinic. She also volunteered at Rhode Island Hospital from 2010-2012, until her retirement. She resumed volunteer work in 2018 at Hope Health Hospice.
Mr. Bob Peterson
Mr. Peterson joined the Board in 2019 and serves as chair of the Finance Committee. Over the past 45 years, he has held positions in the accounting, real estate, securities, and recovery audit industries. During his professional career, Mr. Peterson has been responsible for the financial affairs of companies in the real estate and financial services industries, as well as managing partnership investment portfolios. He is director and founder of Rhode Island Hunger Outreach Partners, a new non-profit organization that facilitates food drives.
Mrs. Constance B. Speidel
Mrs. Speidel has worked in a variety of fields, including electrical engineering, financial coaching, and in library services. She was the librarian for St. Patrick Academy from 2014 to 2018, and while there, assisted in faculty/staff background checks, the National Honor Society, the school's website, field trips, and graduation events. She also volunteers as a tax preparer for the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
Mrs. Barbara Wright
Mrs. Wright is the former executive assistant to the Governor’s director of administration. She is a long-time parishioner of St. Patrick Parish and is the parish representative on the school board. She is a parish trustee, member of the parish finance council, a youth ministry adult leader, lector, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, retreat leader, and spiritual director.
